This is our school's logo. You probably don't know but our school was one of the first technical and industrial schools in Portugal.

Do you know why?

Our region used to be a huge centre of wool industry. We are very near the mountain, much water and sheep around  which made it possible the development of the wool industry. The mountain to feed the sheep, the water to make factories work and the wool to produce cloth.But... we needed more! We needed specialized people to teach the locals how to work the wool. And that was the main purpose of our school some 133 years ago and for many years ahead.In here, people were taught how to comb and weave the wool, to dye the cloth, to design the pattern of the cloth and so many other activities related to this industry.. This school prepared the thousands of workers who filled in the factories, producing woolen cloth that was later exported all around the world.

But the world goes round and things change .Today, our region is no longer that extraordinary producer of woolen products  and the role of our school changed ,too.

Today, our school is a vibrant school of arts (among many other areas) and we try to adapt to new times.

The same as everybody, right?
