After months of preperation, finally was there the meeting between the students. Together they worked during the week at the project My world in the drop of water.
Sunday 9 april the students arrived at Almelo Central Station. It was a beautiful, sunny day. So the students enjoyed the barbeque at their host families.
Monday 10 April:
In the College room of Canisius Almelo was the official kick off. Mister Koopman of the schoolboard welcomed all the students, teachers and parents of the host families. Students were participating in different classes and the teachers enjoyed a guided tour in Canisius Almelo. In the afternoon the students went by bike to the Breakthrough and a pumping station. Employees of the Water board explained how the people of the city of Almelo are safe for floodings. The project the Breakthrough and the pumping stations are very important by the protection.
Tuesday 11 April:
Time for water and creativity, science and biology. At the location Canisius Tubbergen the students were working with water and art. They were creating some beautiful objects and exposed it in the school. In the science lab they were observing "water life" In the afternoon it was time for sport and culture. The students played in the woods the sport: Klootschieten. There was also time to watch the water mills and there was even a pancake served in the restaurant, situated in a water mill.
Wednesda7 12 April:
By bus the group went to the capital city Amsterdam. The theme was living on the water. In groups the students were exploring how the Dutch manage that they can live in and near the water. Of course there was also time for a little city trip. The students and teachers were enjoying the canal tour.
Thursday 13 April:
The students worked in groups to prepare their presentation. Together they shared text, photos and videos. After working there was some time for relaxing. The students played mini golf and enjoyed their French fries and a Dutch frikadel or kroket.
Friday 14 Arpil:
Students were presenting their experience of the week and they present a water theme about their home countries. Students, host families, teachers and members of the schoolboard were impressed.
After the presentation it was time to say good bye. Most of the students stayed till saturday at their host families. Saturday 15 april thei was the final goodbye.
Students and teachers think that it was a very good week and we are looking forward to see each other in Estonia.
